ĆIRO HIKING TOUR

(Jazina and Lastva)

Narrow gauge railway with a steam locomotive on the route Trebinje-Bileća was opened to traffic on November 20, 1931 , and abolished on June 1, 1976. People called these railways „štreke“ , and the recognizable soot steam locomotive was nicknamed ”Ćiro“ , which has remained until today. Today, only nostalgic memories remain of the trains, but that is why the former railway on the route Trebinje-Jazina was reconstructed into an interesting cycling-hiking path 16 kilometers long.

You have a real adventure ahead of you, because the historical tour ”Ćiro” is very picturesque - most of it passes by the river Trebišnjica and the lakes formed on it after the construction of the Grančarevo dam. Along the way you can see many interesting things - natural landscapes belonging to the protected Nature Park Orjen, vineyards on sunny slopes and at the end of the trail pearl river Sušica, crystal pure emerald colored water in which you can refresh and swim.

Trebinje region is a famous wine area, so along the way you can visit several renowned wineries where you can try top Herzegovinian wines and delicacies such as “priganica”( fritters”) , homemade ham and cheese. Ćiro’s route is mostly macadam that is a trademark of rugged Herzegovina. It is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, rich in aromatic herbs whose intoxicating scents you will absorb while riding with a smile or walking towards new and unexpected attractions.

Short description of the tour: We will walk along the route of the former narrow-gauge railway through the beautiful nature along the river Trebišnjica, Lastvansko lake, and river Sušica which are part of Orjen Nature park. We will see the Imperial vineyards, Tito's villa and in the beautiful resort of Jazina you will have the opportunity to try local food.
Estimated time of return: 3 PM (Hotel Leotar)

ARRANGEMENT INCLUDES:
- Transport from Trebinje to the starting point of the trail and later back to Trebinje (15 minutes drive in one direction)
- Fully-equipped and experienced English speaking sertified mountaineering guides

ARRANGEMENT DOES NOT INCLUDE :
- Lunch (on request at Jazina Club restaurant),
- Optional tipping to leader/guide and local staff,
- Souvenirs and items of a personal nature (sodas, alcoholic beverages, etc.)

Options: Water bottles could be provided by HERZ Adventures on request.

Trebinje has 260+ sunny days a year. Still, organizer reserves the right to cancel the trip without prior notice due to bad weather conditions.
